Our Story Karen Horne

Behind DFP

It started, as these things often do, with a house.

Seventeen years ago, our family began our own adventure with French property.

We had the dream, bought the house and discovered fairly quickly that living it is quite different from imagining it. There have been renovations and restorations, plans that worked beautifully, a few that didn't, and more lessons learned along the way than we could ever have anticipated.

Some of that adventure was captured during our time on Channel 4's Escape to the Château DIY and Château DIY, but long after the cameras had gone, our love of old French houses remained.

We still see the possibilities.

Perhaps that's why we're drawn to the houses that aren't always the obvious ones. The faded shutters. The beautiful proportions hidden behind decades of decorating. An old fireplace waiting to be lit again. A forgotten outbuilding. A garden that's got completely out of hand. The houses where you find yourself looking beyond what is there and imagining what it could become. After all these years, we still do it.

And somewhere along the way, DFP began.

Dream French Properties grew from a simple love of finding French homes with something about them and sharing them with other people who could see it too.

What began as discovering and sharing houses has grown into a community of dreamers, renovators, buyers and people who simply never tire of looking at French property.

Some are ready to make the move. Some are already living the dream. And some are quite happily saving houses they'll probably never buy and mentally renovating every room.

We understand all three.
